Update
April 22nd, 2008 by kdanielle
There is nothing really to write about so I’m stumped…but it is silent reading and I needed something to do other than just look out the window. Lately the weather has been really nice, some people even with no jackets on; thats not normal for Snow Lake because usually it takes forever for the snow to go away but this year the snow melted super fast. Then when I woke up this morning it was snowing, not like a lot of snow..not even 1 cm but enough to make it look really cold outside.
One thing that I hate about this town is that there is nothing to do, you can go to one persons house and do something that night like go to anglinas, watch a movie, and hang out then you can go to someone elses house the next night and do the same thing over again…its gets pretty boring. I just wish there was more to do, but what can you do?
I’m running out of things to talk about so cya!

What Students Really Want To Learn
April 16th, 2008 by kdanielle
Being in school until you are 18 years old can be pretty hectic through the years with exams, tests, homework, and still managing your social life. But school is very important because it can determine the rest of someones life and future.
Learning…is the whole point of school, you learn what teachers teach you. I have no problem with what we are learning because I know that I am learning what I need to. Some things that I would like to learn are how to do taxes, drive a car, and learn how to manage money.
I don’t think that many people mind what they are learning, except for the people that don’t like school. Being in school is fun and not fun at times, the only time that it’s not fun is when the whole class has to be silent and do work…though thats the point of getting your work done its nice to be able to talk a little bit.
So now you know what its like to go to school and what I want to learn. Would you change anything about school? Leave a comment.

What Do Teenagers Need From Parents?
April 16th, 2008 by kdanielle
Every teenager wants computers, T.V.’s, I-pods, ski-doos, etc. And I don’t blame them partly because I’m a teenager and partly because it’s good to have those things. All parents want to give there kid(s) what they want and need; and the people that can have everything they want and need are lucky to be able to have that source.
From my parents I want things like the necessities in life, like a bed, food, a house, and clothes. But I also want the other things that people don’t really need, but they have more fun with them.
So being a good parent mainly involves the necessities in life, privileges, and discipline…not giving your kid everything they want and letting them have their way. To become a successful person in life teenagers need a healthy structure, but also they need to not be controlled, let them do as they please every once in a while; people need their space. And with them being a teenager they need more freedom from when they were 6 years old. Mainly…they need to grow up, and learn to do things for themselves.
So being a good parent overall is to have a structure for your kid(s) but also let them have their freedom.

What Did I Learn?
April 16th, 2008 by kdanielle
Researching and learning about this topic taught me a lot about it. Some things that I learned were: more children go hungry rather than adults, every 3.6 second a person dies of hunger 75% of them are children, there are organizations that help to end hunger but it is going to take a lot more than that, and I also learned that you can fight hunger by giving not only to charities but to the people you are still helping them.
With the things that I learned it allowed me to do my project with ease; because being able to just look at your notes and write them down it simple…you still ahve to have a good hit hard presentation. Overall while presenting my presentation I feel that I could have done a bit better, just slowed things down a little bit.
Now you know a little bit about what I learned and what I did with what I learned. Any questions about hunger? Leave a comment.

Learning About Important Research
April 15th, 2008 by kdanielle
Quite a while ago we started a TED Talks presentation, we got to choose whatever we wanted as a topic, I chose hunger. While working on this project we had to do a lot of research; there are many different sites and ways to research a topic. Some ways that I chose to research my topic was large search engines like google, askjeeves, and flickr.
Ways of putting my information together was the difficult part, like being able to take all the information and try to make some sense of it. But in the end when I had my presentation slides sorted out and ready, the information kind of fell into place.
I think that in the end my presentation turned out very well and I found out new ways for researching on such a big topic, and that is to take things slow and try to make sense of what you have in front of you.

Can It Be Boxed?
April 9th, 2008 by kdanielle
To me culture is a way of living, almost like a blueprint to life. A culture is something that people follow because they believe in it. To box up culture you must look at what is important to you, and think of what you would save to resemble your culture. For me, I don’t really follow a culture but if I had to pick a part of my culture to save I would have to say it would be food.
I would choose this because I come from a Hispanic family and food means something to them. Culture not only is a way of life, and what you would save from it. It is also has a part in what nationality you are; I am Hispanic, Italian, Irish, and a little bit German. Knowing this, I can know a little about my culture.
So knowing this information can become useful at one point in life. so culture can be boxed, it just takes time to think of what to box. It can mean different values to different people…maybe because of the culture that they come from.
Do you know your culture?

This winter has been fun so far, pretty much all I have been doing is ski-dooing. Though sometimes I’m not in the mood to go, I still go because I know it’s really boring with only a few people. Yesterday I went with Logyn on my ski-doo, after a while we had to go get gas because I was running low. Then a while later I took it home and rode with Paige and Taylor because I didn’t want to run out of gas.
While I was on with Paige and Taylor we went to stop and Paige accidentially hit the throttle while Taylor as driving and it tipped over, we were all fine and nothing happened to the ski-doo…actually it was really funny.
When I got home I cleaned a bit for some guests that are going to be arriving tonight at 1:30-2:00. They are my sisters boyfriends brother. You are probably wondering why he is coming, but it’s because it’s such a long drive and I don’t think anyone would want to drive twelve hours alone.

Are You Successful?
April 8th, 2008 by kdanielle
To me success means to accomplish something that you set your goals on. Setting your goals on something that you want to accomplish means that you want to succeed. To define success you must look at things that people have accomplished, whether that is winning your high school soccer game or graduating from college. It is when you know that you have done something that you have wanted to do when you know that you are a successor.
You can succeed in whatever you want to, even in life. Having a successful life means that you are happy with all of your actions and accomplishments. A person that I know that is successful is my dad. I believe that he is happy with everything that he has done with his life so far; he may not have everything that he wants but he has everything that he needs.
So success is more than just being good at something or having a lot of money, it is about being happy and being able to accomplish anything that you desire.

Saskatoon and Nipawin
April 7th, 2008 by kdanielle
This Spring Break was a lot of fun, we went to Nipawin and then Saskatoon. In Saskatoon we stayed at the Radisson and went shopping, swimming, and we went to a spa but it wasn’t in the Radisson.
Before the spa and after we all went shopping, we found Taiya a semi-formal dress and I already had one so I didn’t have to look. Other than that we just went out to eat the last night that we were there. I was talking about going to Moxy’s and then ten minutes later we saw one so we asked for a table and they said it would be a 45 minute wait so we waited in the van.
The drive home was really boring, the only thing to do was read the magazines over and over again. My ipod died, Taiya was sleeping, and I didn’t feel like talking to people in the front seat. So my Spring Break was pretty good, rather than the ones in the past years; hope everyone else had a good time on their break.
