Defenitly

November 27th, 2007 by kdanielle

Well now I’m 100% sure that it’s winter folks, the snow is now laying on the ground like cement and won’t peel up until May or even June if you want to really know. I’m not that fond of winter seeing as how I’m used to the heat…and trust me it’s not all that great moving to Snow Lake from 111* degrees celcius weather.

But once you get used to the cold…which you really don’t, you will see that it can be a lot of fun. Kids around hear do the most in the winter; we go ski-dooing, sliding, snow ball fights…which I”m sure not that many people in L.A. can do; that’s why everyone loves it so much, but I dn’t think that they love it so much when it’s -40 and we have to walk to school.

Luckily I don’t live that far from the school so it’s not that bad. But you’d be surprised by how frozen you are by the time you get to the school. Just this morning when me and Sara got to the school ground our hair was frozen at the ends, and then Sara told me that my eyelashes were frozen! :D

So don’t get to excitd about this small town…but it still has some characteristics that makes it so nice to live. Stay tuned…a volleyball post should be popping up any day.

The Outsiders 11&12

November 15th, 2007 by kdanielle

These are the last two chapters in the book and I would just like to say that I really enjoyed this book. While reading these two chapters some events that happened were:

Chapter 11

While reading chapter eleven some events that occurred were that while Ponyboy lay in bed tired and sore from the recent rumble he was looking at one of Sodapop’s old year books. While he was looking through them he saw a picture of a boy that looked familiar, he then realized that who he was looking at was the boy that Johnny killed…Bob. Randy (one of the Soc’s) then showed up at their house to see Ponyboy with some other friends. The reason Randy was there was to see how Ponyboy was doing and if he was ok, also he wanted to tell him that they had to go and see the judge the next day. Ponyboy was worried about the judge because he didn’t want the judge to think that Darry was and unfit guardian. Randy then told Ponyboy that it was not his fault that Johnny killed Bob and that he had nothing to worry about. Darry then asked Randy to leave and to not bring up Johnny around Ponyboy because he is emotionally ill.

Chapter 12

In chapter twelve some events that happened were:

- Everyone went to the hearing and Ponyboy was free, he was declared of not killed Bob and nothing bad happend to him.

- Ponyboy goes to school and his teacher tells him that in order to pass

- In order to pass he would ahve to do very well on his next assignment, so he wrote about the past week of his life, the week that took three lives and two were his close friends and the other was of someone that Ponyboy still cared for but did not know.

My Thoughts/Word Choice

The lives that were taken in this past week were not meant to happen, things should have been different but I felt that with the things tha happened in this story it made it even better to read.

The word that I would choose would be survival, I chose this word because they made it through a tough part in life, they fought for who they wanted to be and who they were, they tried…they won…they survived. I thought this was a great book and I recommend it to anyone, I myself and not a big reader and I loved this book, I would read it again and again. Thanx for reading.

The Outsiders- 9&10

November 11th, 2007 by kdanielle

In chapters nine and ten I thought was the best part of the book because like I had predicted before it was becoming more suspenseful for a reason, and that reason was for the rumble that was coming up. Some important events that happened in the story were:

Chapter 9
- Darry, Ponyboy, and Sodapop are getting ready for the big rumble that is going to take place at 7:00pm.

- It took the boys a while to get ready because they always try to look good before a fight to prove to the Soc’s that they are just as good as them.

- After they were all done getting ready and everyone was there, Ponyboy started asking them some questions, and that was why everybody liked to fight. All of their answers had to do with action, and the Soc’s and showing off.

- They then soon came to realize that it was almost seven o’clock so they decided that they better be on there way.

- When they got there Darry said, “Anybody want to fight?” and out of nowhere someone punched him right in the face, after the first punch everyone started going at it.

- Dally showed up unexpected and was hurt badly on one arm because of his burns, so Ponyboy helped him out while he was fighting.

- One of the Soc’s had brought a pipe to the fight…the Soc’s began to run. They had given up even though they could have won, but with the Greaser’s brotherhood and trust they beat the Soc’s fair and square.

- All the Greaser’s then realized that they had one, they were all so happy and were thinking about all the things they could do now, how much had changed, and what was possible.

- Dally then mentioned Johnny and how they should go see him and tell him what happened.

- Even before they stepped into Johnny’s room they heard bad news, the doctor had said that he was dieing and there was nothing he could really do. Right before Johnny died he told Ponyboy to stay gold…those were his last words.

Chapter 10
- After Johnny died Dally got angry, he stopped out of the room and down the hall.

- Dally had started his car and left, he then went to a store and robbed it to take out his anger, the cops were after him after this occurred.

- When the cops found him Dally had a gun but it was not loaded, when he pulled it out the cops shot him and he was also dead.

- The whole gang was looking for him while he was gone and when they found him…they watched him get shot.

- Then they went home and went to bed, didn’t say much, only because there was really nothing much to say.

My Thoughts

I think that the word that describes these two chapters best would have to be friendship, I think that this because when all of the boys stick together while they are fighting and believe that they can do whatever they want to is
all about them being friends. If they were not friends to begin with they would have no chance of beating the Soc’s.
Another reason why I think these chapters are about friendship is because when Johnny dies in the story everyone is sad, and also again if they were not friends no one would be sad. But because everyone was so close and
had hope and faith in each other, that is why they were all very upset.

Favourite Part

My favourite part in this chapter is when all of the boys know that they had won the fight againest the Soc’s. This is my favourite part because they then knew that they were free. Free from critasisim, free from worry, and free from judgement.

The Outsiders- 7&8

November 8th, 2007 by kdanielle

In chapters seven and eight of The Outsiders many different things happened. Many of these things had a lot to do with the two chapters before and were very important to the storyline, some of the most important things that happened in these chapters were:

Chapter 7

 - Ponyboy, Darry, and Sodapop were sitting in the hospital waiting room to here how Johnny and Dally were going to be.

- While they were waiting reporters were causing a racket in the hospital asking all the boys questions about what happened and taking pictures of them for the newspaper.

- When the reporters finally left Darry explained to the doctor that they were like family to Johnny and Dally and that they would like to hear how they were doing. They then found out that Dally had third degree burns just on his arm, that Johnny had a broken back, and if Johnny were to make it through it he would be crippled for the rest of his life.

 - After they heard the news the doctor told them to go home and get some rest they followed his advice and drove home.

- When they got home they all went right to sleep, and in the morning when Ponyboy woke up he was reading a newspaper article that was saying what heroes they were, but when he read the last sentence of the article he was not pleased, it read: “These boys should not be separated after they had worked so had to stay together.”

- Ponyboy then told the guys that he had a nightmare about his parent’s funeral and that it used to happen very often until he started to work harder and sleep with Sodapop.

- Darry then went off to work and Ponyboy and Two-Bit walked to Tasty Freeze to get some drinks. While they were there Randy (a Soc) drove up in his blue mustang, Randy wanted to talk to Ponyboy.

- While they were having there conversation they were talking about how Ponyboy saved those children and also how Randy would have let them burn and wouldn’t have risked his life for theirs.

Chapter 8

-After they were done talking they thought they would go and see Johnny in the hospital, while they were there Johnny’s mom was also there and Johnny said that he didn’t want to see her.

-After they were don’t visiting Johnny Two-Bit and Ponyboy took the bus home, they saw Cherry on the way back and Ponyboy stopped and talked to her for a while and told here what was going on.

My Thoughts

While I was reading these two chapters one of my favourite parts was when Ponyboy and Randy were talking because while you were reading the part when Randy pulled up in his blue mustang is very suspenseful. Also Ponyboy then learned that after something bad happens something good can come out of it and that is that when you may think someone is bad…they can always turn out to be good.  I think that these two chapters represented fear, I think that this word fits this best because as the story goes on it gets more and more suspenseful and you just always want to know what is going to happen next…so I do wonder…what is going to happen next?

The Outsiders- 5&6

November 4th, 2007 by kdanielle

The middle of any book is when it really beigns to make sense and come together, and I am at this part in The Outsiders. During these past two chapters many different things happened and I think that they are going to have a huge impact on the story-line.

The first thing that happened was one morning(while in the church) Ponyboy woke up and Johnny was gone getting supplies for the rest of the  stay in the church and when Johnny got back he showed Ponyboy what he had bought. After he was done showing that he told Ponyboy what they had to do, and that was that they had to cut there hair. Not only did Johnny and Ponyboy gut there hair but Ponyboy had to bleach is hair so that they wouldn’t fit the descriptions in the paper for the killing of Bob.

Dally then shows up at the church, and the boys are very happy to see someone that has connections to the outside world (according to Ponyboy) and Dally takes them to Dairy Queen for something good to eat.

When the three boys are done their meal they drive back to the church in Dally’s beat up old car, and when they arrive they see that the church that they had been living in for the past week was on fire and that was not the only thing that was going on, there was a school picnic going on and the boys were shocked and scared at the same time.

Ponyboy and Johnny then soon come to relize that there were some children that were playing around in the church when it caught fire and were still in it. Ponyboy then hops through the window and Johnny follows, they save the children and the kids are untouched but for Ponyboy, Johnny, and also Dally…they are sent to the hosptial.

I think that in this chapter the word that would describe it best would be heroism. With all of the acts that were taken place in these two chapters was something that only a true at heart hero could do. A hero is someone that is even risking his own life to save others, and someone that has a lot of bravery and is willing to give and take, that’s what a true hero is all about, and I think that Ponyboy, Johnny, and Dally all showed a big part of that.

Halloween In the Deep Cold Powder

November 1st, 2007 by kdanielle

Well winter’s really here if you folks were wondering. It sure hit hard this year and wasn’t playing around, it meant business. It started off when I woke up in the morning to get ready and I looked out te window and there was that white powder freshly covering the cold hard ground.

Then it began to snow all throughout the day nad it just woulnd’t stop, so by the end of the day there was more than a foot of snow. Though I kind if like the snow it doesn’t really match up with Halloween and walking around for hours trick-or treating.

This year I went with my frineds Sara, Skye, Logyn, and Elaine, we didn’t get that much candy but we got enough to last us a while. The reason we didn’t get as much we usally did was because it was so cold outside and no one was out to socialize with, although come to think of it we did run into Taiya and her good friend Jordan, they were trick-or-treating when we were done and they had just started.

But I have to cut this one short due to silent reading almost being over…just one thing…how was your Halloween? Leave your answer on my comments, thanx! :)
