Desire vs. Need

Desire vs. Need what is more important? Of course to most people need is more important but when you start to think about your life and what you desire and what you need, what’s your first thought? To me it is both I desire and I need. I would like to have a laptop, but I need food to eat. Do you see the difference?
In school we read a story called The Veldt, in this story there is an average family of four living in there house in a nice neighborhood. But the twist about this story is they live in the future and their house is electronic, it does everything for them even something as simple as tying there shoes.
The two children in the story Wendy and Peter play a big role. They are used to having everything they desire and having everything handed to them on a silver platter, including their nursery. The nursery in the house isn’t like any other, it as crystalline walls and whatever you imagine shows up in these walls. Lately the children had been thinking about an African veldt land and the parents were beginning to get suspicious. Later on in the story the parents begin to talk about shutting the whole house down for around a month, but Wendy and Peter have another idea.
After the parents were done discussing the nursery and what they were going to do about it, they call the physiologist to help them make there final decision. While the physiologist is there they are inspecting the veldt that the children have been imagining lately. They discover that the loins in the veldt could maybe become real. So in the end of the story the children kill there parents by locking them in a room and the lions with the hot African sun beating down on them.
Just by this summary I can see where desire comes, the children were angry with their parents because they wouldn’t let them go to New York on a rocket, they were also mad at them because they were threatening them about turning the house off and living for real. In this story need isn’t used at all, it was only desire that the kids thought of, and all the parents were trying to do was change that.
