/!Speaking of Censorship/!

April 26th, 2007 by kdanielle

Well latley in school we have been talking about censorship, and I was just sitting on my computer thinking about the decision that Mr. Fisher decided on (editing out the picture of George Bush) and I was just thinking about the song Dear Mr. President by Pink. If you have ever listened to it what coices do you think she would ahve had to make about putting that song on her new album? I mean she does work in te U.S. and has a record label there, so why take the rick of all that? I think that she was trying to send out a messge, what do you think?

Studying

April 24th, 2007 by kdanielle

I just got back from the sitting on the deck studying, we have a science quiz on Thursday. I think I’ll do well.

It’s nice but still a little bit chilly, I guess thats how spring and summer nights get here. It’s always been like that. Not where I used to live, during the night it would always be very humid. I didn’t mind it that much.

I’m kind of bored right now and I’m not sure what to do, any ideas? Well I think that since I’ so bored I should get off the computer and go and watch T.V. big difference, eh?

Well best be going, ta ta for now! :P

Censorship

April 24th, 2007 by kdanielle

Censorship is when something is censored for a specific reason. A lot of things that are censored are censored either because they are not appropriate or they may be offensive to some people.

I do think that it is a good thing to censor things that are like this because, I don’t you think that it’s better to censor things rather than to take a risk of offending some people?

Two things that are censored in this time (right now) are MTV’s show scarred:  http://www.mtv.com/ontv/dyn/scarred/series.jhtmlhttp:/www.mtv.com/ontv/dyn/scarred/series.jhtml
and this painting:   http://homepage.mac.com/akitzmil/iblog/C826490882/E2019044962/Media/cupid_censored.jpghttp:/homepage.mac.com/akitzmil/iblog/C826490882/E2019044962/Media/cupid_censored.jpg
I think again that these should be censored because some people may find them offensive in some ways.

Censorship has a lot to do with choice, when someone has to make that choice they have to know that they are making the right decision. And they are, they aren’t going to take any risk of offending people, I think that that’s good and bad. I think that it’s good in some ways to censor things because you don’t want to disrubt the people but in some ways I think that it’s a good thing because if you are trying to send out a good message to people but you think that it may disrubt them, what are you going to do? You would have to find some way to send out your message, while remebering how not to disrubt the people. How would you do that?

Mr. Fisher has asked us to say what we think about his decision on Randy and Darren’s terrorist video. I think that he made the right decision, like I said before sometimes it’s better to have nothing at all rather to start something that you don’t need.

Hope you liked it!!! :P

School…

April 23rd, 2007 by kdanielle

Pretty interesting title eh? I think so too. Well you know just sitting in class waititng for something to do, I just finished answering some questions that Mr. Fisher gave us to post on are blogs…so check it out if your interested. I myself think that I did a really good job on the questions for being 12 years of age. :P

This weekend was really fun, me and my friend Anna went to the semi-formal, we had a good time there and then we left. Later that night we were sitting in the yard on a blanket talking to people on the phone at Skye’s house, I found it entertaining. When we were done with all of that we went back inside and watched movies on T.V. then we went to bed at 4:00.

Well, must go now bye bye. :)

My ITL Reflection

April 23rd, 2007 by kdanielle

1. What have you learned about your topic?

During this ITL project I have learned a variety of things; each thing that I have learned has been or will be useful to me in some way. Some of the things that I learned from doing this project are learning not only that you don’t have to be an adult to do these kinds of things, that  you can be kids just like us and do just as good as a job or even better. Another very important thing that I learned is that when we were working on the computer to make our video you learn how to use the software very well, and I think that that is a very good thing because its one of those things that will come of use to me in the future.

2. What have you learned about collaborating locally and internationally?

Even doing this project was an amazing thing to experience but one thing that made it even more amazing is knowing that we could have partners from all around the world and still be able to work with them, get their opinion, and ask them for their ideas. I think that because we had these resources that it helped us tremendously with our project, and to think of what the video might have turned out like without them to tell us what they think.

3.What would have made this project easier/better/interesting?

Everything during this project was handed to us on a silver platter, we got everything that we needed, computers, the right software, and great people to work with. So with all of the things that we needed and all of the little extra things that added up I honestly don’t think that anything could have made doing this project easier, better, or more interesting.

4 What have you learned about telling a story/combining/pictures/

music/video/text

I must say again that I have learned many things from doing this project, learning all of these things and learning how to use them will teach us that exactly. Telling a story isn’t as simple as you think, little red riding hood rode her bike down…you get the point, anyways when you are telling a story using this kid of equipment it makes it easier because you have more choices and with more choices your ideas come to a whole new level. Learning to use this  software includes learning about pictures, music, combining things, video, and text so learning to use this software has taught us all how to use them and taught us how they work and that’s all we need to know…for now.

I’m so happy that the semi-formal is on Saturday, and the thing that makes it even better is that Anna is going to sleep her that night. We plan on doing some pretty crazy things…outside…lol.

Anyways on saturday at 4:00 I’m going to go and get my hair done, I’m just going to curl it. Well I know I’m making this short but I’m bored of the computer I’ve been on for  while…well bye bye!!! :P

Science Definitions

April 11th, 2007 by kdanielle

Homogenoes mixture: A homogenous mixture is when something is mixed together, and after it is mixed together the paricles that you have mixed in to the liquid have all dissolved into that liquid. So you can’t see the particles that could have been left in the drink if you would have mixed the particles into a different liquid that may have a different temperature or a different reaction to the particles.

Example: Iced Tea, you can;t see the particles because they were stirred in.

Hetrogeonous Mixture: A hetrogeneous mixture is the oppisite of a homogeneous mixture. It is when you mix something together and you can still see the particles that should ahve dissolved into the liquid.

Example: Hot chocolate that is mixed in cold water, you can still see the tiny particles that are left in the liquid.

Saturated Solution: A staurated solution is when all the spaces that are in between all of the particles are filled.

Example: Kool-Aid, in this drink you can see that the crystals have fell to the bottom.

Unsaturated Solution: An unsaturated solution is the oppisite of a saturated solution. It is when there is unfilled spaces in the glass.

Example: Kool-Aid, when you mix kool-aid and there is no crystaks at the bottom that means that there is unfilled spaces in the glass.

My Video for ITL

April 5th, 2007 by kdanielle

My Video for ITL

Our teacher Mr. Fisher has gotten us to do a video for a specific topic. April (my partner) and I have chosen all the different types of eating disorders, I think that we chose this topic because we knew that it would be an easy way to express to the people out there that have these types of eating disorders that it’s not healthy to do it and that they need to speak up and get the help that they need.

Before we could even start to think of what are video would be like we had to come up with so much information and ideas, and other peoples ideas first. Doing this really helped us because when we started the video it made it a lot easier to figure out how to get started.

I think that the hardest part of doing this video is the audio. You have to know where and where not to put things otherwise you have to go through many steps to figure out how to get back to where you began. It’s a very difficult process.

When you are making a video like this you have to think before you add something into the video. Say you want to say something to the people out there that have an eating disorder but you don’t want to be to harsh, you just have to learn to tone it down a bit. Right now we are in the middle of doing this video so we have not yet to complete the final steps, but when we do we plan to send a great message to the people with this problem and hope that they understand it.

Blogging Info.

April 5th, 2007 by kdanielle

Questions

1. What strategies do you use in blogging?

A lot of the strategies that I myself have learned and including the whole class, we have all learnt from Mr. Fisher. As I have said many times on my blog before I came to Mr. Fisher’s class I had no idea what a blog was, so he’s the one that has taught me and a few other people what some strategies are and now I will pass some on.

Some of the strategies that we use every time that we go on are blogs is making sure that we don’t have spelling errors, a good way to make sure that this doesn’t happen is to do your blog post on word and then copy and paste it onto your blog. Another strategy that I have learnt is to keep your readers entertained and write about useful things. These are only two strategies but I guarantee you that they will come to use. (Useful information)

2. How does blogging help you as a writer? A reader? And a publisher?

I think that blogging helps you with all of these things in a very good way because, as a writer you have better skills at expressing your opinion or idea and you learn that other peoples opinions and ideas are more important than you think they may be.

I think that as a reader blogging helps you understand what you are reading better because it helps you understand the concept and the point in the text. You just have to remember that everything has a point and the people that make these points just have a different way to express these points in a different view or in a different form.

3. When you post how do you get the ideas to post about your topic?

I think that we get all of are ideas to post these things from real life, and what we do in are life and how it happens. Imagine your life just sitting on the couch watching T.V. all the time, how would you write about that on your blog? All of my ideas I get are from my life and what happens in my life, so what happens in your life? You just have to know how to put those words on a blank screen.

4. What is your favorite or the most interesting thing you like about blogging?

When I blog it’s like I’m telling the whole world about my life and how it works, all the things that happen in my life are put onto my blank screen. I find that is the most interesting and fun thing about blogging, knowing that the world knows how your life works.
