What Truth is In My Opinion

Posted in At school posts by kdanielle on the May 14, 2008

The definition of truth is hard and easy to explain. Defining truth can be harder to explain for different people. To me truth can be a variety of things. It can be honesty, responsibliltes, and even the opposite…lieing. People lie to cover up the truth, so it is a part of truth. Being able to tell the truth can be rewarding, liberating, and relieving. Though you can lie about the truth and hide it, it can be a good thing. Someone can be hiding the truth for a good cause. So the defenition of truth to me is telling someone something that they have done, that can be good or bad. You can also hide the truth for good and bad reasons.

Everyone and anyone can lie and tell the truth. It is best to tell the truth in my opinion, but also I believe that sometimes you must lie, depending on the reason. Liberation; feeling releaved after telling someone the truth. Sometimes keeping things bottled up and away from people…and then telling someone can make you feel liberated.

Say someone told you a secret about another person, and didn’t want you to tell anyone. They are probably telling you because they have kept it bottled up for so long. You on the other hand have to then keep another secret among yours. Would you rather feel liberated or bottled up?

That is the choice everyone has to make when they find something out about anyone, from anyone. What would you do? What’s your opinion?

The defenition of the truth is not the only part in it, it is also what you yourself know to be true. One thing that I know to be true is that when I was 4 years old my parents broke up, and I know that was hard. I was little so it didn’t really affect me right at that moment. The first thing that I asked when they told me and my sister they were getting a divore was “what’s a divore?”…I didnt really get it. I didn’t know that we were going to up and move all the way to Canada; but when I did was when it started getting hard. And also when I leave my dad when I go and visit him…its very hard to leave; it gets to me because I know I won’t see him for another year.

So the truth can be more than just an explantion of the word…it can be what you know it true. What do you think is true??

Semi-Formal

Posted in Silent Reading by kdanielle on the May 12, 2008

This weekend was Semi-formal. It is a school dance that Student Council holds in the gym. The things about it is, its the one time people can dress up and not feel like a complete idiot. This year I’m on student council so I had to set up for it and also take down. Some things that we had in the gym were tables to sit at with candles, a bar where you could get drinks (no alcochol…obviously), and big speakers set up to play the music.

The people that were at the dance said it looked really nice, so I guess thats a bonus. This year I never wore a dress. I had one but I didn’t feel like wearing it.

Well I hope everyone had a good time at semi-formal, cya.

My Weekend

Posted in My weekends by kdanielle on the May 5, 2008

This weekend a lot of people hung out, and actually did things other than go to Angelina’s. On Friday Skye and I went out to Taiya’s around 5:00 or 5:30, when we got out there Mike, Dustin, and Skyler were already there. So we just sat around and hung out for a bit. Later on Taiya, me, Mike, and Dustin wanted to go quadding and dirt biking (Kade’s mini dirtbike).

While that gave us something to do for a little while then we kind of got into a routine (me and Taiya were talking about it) how we would play rock band, eat, sleep (or just lay around), and then do it all over again. The people who were sleeping in Taiya’s room didn’t go to bed until 6:30 or 7:00 in the morning. I was the first one to get up in the morning at 11:00. Later when everyone was awake (Taiya, Kelsey, Skye, Mike, Dustin, Skyler, and me) Taiya’s mom made us pancakes, then everyone went home except Mike and Kelsey who later on got Taiya’s qud stuck in a swamp.

On Friday some people when over to Skye’s tp hang out; Me, Logyn, Taiya, Kelsey, Tyler, Dustin, Skyler, and Mike. We watched The Excorsist, I hadn’t seen it yet so I was pretty freaked out. When I went home I got Logyn and Skye to walk me, then when I got home I went on the computer until 3:30 and then the next morning…which I can’t really call morning I got up at 5:30! I didn’t know how I slept that long but I did.

Well that was my weekend, cya.

About Me

Posted in At school posts by kdanielle on the May 1, 2008

Hi, my name is Katie and I’m 13 years old. I live in Snow Lake, which is a very small town; there isn’t really anything to do here but we always find something to keep us occupied. In school we do a lot of blogging that is why I have a blog. The reason I am writing this post is because our teacher Mr. Fisher asked us to introduce ourselves to the new readers that will be on our blogs. Before I was in Mr. Fisher’s class I didn’t even know what a blog was. I really like the fact that we get to blog and work on the computers a lot.

Some things that I like to do with my spare time are to hang out with my friends, go ski-dooing, quading, tubing, and stuff like that. Things that we can do around town are a lot of things outside. With sports, I don’t play very many only volleyball; almost all of the girls in my class were on the team. We have a very small class around 23.

At home I have my mom Cindy, my step-dad Brian, and my sister Brittany. I also have a dog named Roxie and a cat Zoey. My real dads name is Danny and I have a step mom
Carolina; but my dad doesn’t live here, so I go to visit him in the summer and on holidays.

I pretty much summed it up altogether. Now you know a little bit about me, my class, and my family. Bye.

Update

Posted in Silent Reading by kdanielle on the April 22, 2008

There is nothing really to write about so I’m stumped…but it is silent reading and I needed something to do other than just look out the window. Lately the weather has been really nice, some people even with no jackets on; thats not normal for Snow Lake because usually it takes forever for the snow to go away but this year the snow melted super fast. Then when I woke up this morning it was snowing, not like a lot of snow..not even 1 cm but enough to make it look really cold outside.

One thing that I hate about this town is that there is nothing to do, you can go to one persons house and do something that night like go to anglinas, watch a movie, and hang out then you can go to someone elses house the next night and do the same thing over again…its gets pretty boring. I just wish there was more to do, but what can you do?

I’m running out of things to talk about so cya! :)

What Students Really Want To Learn

Posted in School by kdanielle on the April 16, 2008

Being in school until you are 18 years old can be pretty hectic through the years with exams, tests, homework, and still managing your social life. But school is very important because it can determine the rest of someones life and future.

Learning…is the whole point of school, you learn what teachers teach you. I have no problem with what we are learning because I know that I am learning what I need to. Some things that I would like to learn are how to do taxes, drive a car, and learn how to manage money.

I don’t think that many people mind what they are learning, except for the people that don’t like school. Being in school is fun and not fun at times, the only time that it’s not fun is when the whole class has to be silent and do work…though thats the point of getting your work done its nice to be able to talk a little bit.

So now you know what its like to go to school and what I want to learn. Would you change anything about school? Leave a comment.

What Do Teenagers Need From Parents?

Posted in At school posts by kdanielle on the April 16, 2008

Every teenager wants computers, T.V.’s, I-pods, ski-doos, etc. And I don’t blame them partly because I’m a teenager and partly because it’s good to have those things. All parents want to give there kid(s) what they want and need; and the people that can have everything they want and need are lucky to be able to have that source.

From my parents I want things like the necessities in life, like a bed, food, a house, and clothes. But I also want the other things that people don’t really need, but they have more fun with them. :P

So being a good parent mainly involves the necessities in life, privileges, and discipline…not giving your kid everything they want and letting them have their way. To become a successful person in life teenagers need a healthy structure, but also they need to not be controlled, let them do as they please every once in a while; people need their space. And with them being a teenager they need more freedom from when they were 6 years old. Mainly…they need to grow up, and learn to do things for themselves.

So being a good parent overall is to have a structure for your kid(s) but also let them have their freedom.

What Did I Learn?

Posted in At Home Posts by kdanielle on the April 16, 2008

Researching and learning about this topic taught me a lot about it. Some things that I learned were: more children go hungry rather than adults, every 3.6 second a person dies of hunger 75% of them are children, there are organizations that help to end hunger but it is going to take a lot more than that, and I also learned that you can fight hunger by giving not only to charities but to the people you are still helping them.

With the things that I learned it allowed me to do my project with ease; because being able to just look at your notes and write them down it simple…you still ahve to have a good hit hard presentation. Overall while presenting my presentation I feel that I could have done a bit better, just slowed things down a little bit.

Now you know a little bit about what I learned and what I did with what I learned. Any questions about hunger? Leave a comment.

Learning About Important Research

Posted in School by kdanielle on the April 15, 2008

Quite a while ago we started a TED Talks presentation, we got to choose whatever we wanted as a topic, I chose hunger. While working on this project we had to do a lot of research; there are many different sites and ways to research a topic. Some ways that I chose to research my topic was large search engines like google, askjeeves, and flickr.

Ways of putting my information together was the difficult part, like being able to take all the information and try to make some sense of it. But in the end when I had my presentation slides sorted out and ready, the information kind of fell into place.

I think that in the end my presentation turned out very well and I found out new ways for researching on such a big topic, and that is to take things slow and try to make sense of what you have in front of you.

Can It Be Boxed?

Posted in At school posts by kdanielle on the April 9, 2008

To me culture is a way of living, almost like a blueprint to life. A culture is something that people follow because they believe in it. To box up culture you must look at what is important to you, and think of what you would save to resemble your culture. For me, I don’t really follow a culture but if I had to pick a part of my culture to save I would have to say it would be food.

I would choose this because I come from a Hispanic family and food means something to them. Culture not only is a way of life, and what you would save from it. It is also has a part in what nationality you are; I am Hispanic, Italian, Irish, and a little bit German. Knowing this, I can know a little about my culture.

So knowing this information can become useful at one point in life. so culture can be boxed, it just takes time to think of what to box. It can mean different values to different people…maybe because of the culture that they come from.

Do you know your culture?
